With valentine’s day coming up we all want to do something special with our significant other. But let’s be honest… sometimes it seems a bit too much to spend so much money on one night when you could be celebrating your love every day! We are totally the type of people that go buy chocolates on February 15th because they are on sale (haha no same) so it’s ok to show your love with inexpensive date ideas.
We love having date nights and go out on dates all the time because it’s fun to spend time together.
We came up with a list of our favorite inexpensive date ideas so you can switch it up this year and skip the expensive (sometimes boring) dinner and do something you both will remember.
Save this to your couples board on Pinterest for later!
Here are 12 inexpensive date ideas for you
1.Have a Picnic
One of our favorite activities/dates ever! Honestly, we have picnics all year round even if it’s indoors. It can be a date for the whole day if you make the food together and then play cards or frisbee after you are done eating. We even made a post about our favorite picnic spots in Paris if you want some more inspiration.
2. Visit a museum/ go to an exhibition
We love museums and finding cool art shows that we never expected. The last one we saw was a 360 projection and you felt like you were inside the paintings. Sometimes art galleries are around the same area so you can check those out if a museum seems too big and you want to see different styles.
3. Explore a new part of the city
It is no secret that we love walking so this is one of our favorite ways to get out of the house and have a fun inexpensive date. You never know what new restaurants, stores, parks, or even potential new houses you can find.
4. Do a pub crawl
We really enjoy partying together and dancing, so pub crawls are a fun and easy way to visit multiple places in one night. They usually give you better prices on drinks and a free shot, plus you can make friends and see the city with different eyes.
5. Rent a lime (or the equivalent)
Ride around the park and even do some races. You can also rent a boat if the park has a lake. It’s fun and you can take turns to row while listening to music or having a snack.
6. Go to a viewpoint
We love seeing places from above and getting an idea of how everything is laid out. Viewpoints usually come with a hike so it will turn into a whole day date if you plan it. After that, you can have a drink or dessert as a reward to complete your inexpensive date.
7. Become a “taster”
Pick something you both like, for example, we love lemon ice cream. Then look up 3-4 (or more) places that have that thing and try them all! See which one has the best one. You could even come up with a point system and share the results at the end.
8. Sign up for luxury/expensive house showings
Pretend like you are going to buy the place. Make up a story and enjoy the house hunting! It’s an inexpensive date with a fancy touch to it.
9. Dive into the world of urbX
On the complete opposite end from the one before. Here you can visit abandoned places around your city. Do some research and you might be able to find amazing places! Take a picnic with you or you could even plan a photoshoot for a complete date.
10. Go to laser tag!
It’s not painful like paintball and it’s so much fun! afterward, you can have a dessert or fast food to make up all the calories you burned.
11. Make a meal or new recipe together
Look up something neither of you knows how to cook and make it from scratch. It can be a whole day date if you both go looking for the ingredients and play some music while you make it. We usually try international dishes since it’s fun to visit other neighborhoods and mix things up.
And our favorite type of date:
12. take a day trip!
It doesn’t need to be far or expensive. You can take the train/metro/bus to a nearby town, castle, forest, or even suburb and see what you can find. You will be surprised the number of times we have stumbled upon great adventures by just taking the metro to the last stop.
Bonus: Go to stores where they sell massage chairs or equipment and try them out. But if you prefer a real massage make a spa at home! It will definitely be romantic. You can also check Groupon, we have gotten couples massages for a great price and it’s a good way to spend the day together.
Remember you don’t need to spend a lot of money to show your significant other that you love them.
